Dates/TimesSessions generally run 8 to 10 weeks, depending on the calendar year and holidays. We offer three blocks of classes, and students grades 1-12 may choose up to three classes to take each Friday. We begin at 8:30am with chapel, and students are done with all three blocks by 12:00, followed by our clean-up of the church. Classes are each an hour long. Chapel
We begin each Friday School day with Chapel! Chapel is a time for worship, followed by a short devotion and then announcements for parents before students are dismissed to go to various classes. Traditionally, our chapels have been rich times of fun and encouragement for everyone who attends. Nursery/Preschool/KindergartenPart of what makes Friday School able to reach so many is that we offer an Early Childhood Education program. This allows parents to drop off their little ones in a safe, nurturing environment, while they participate in Friday School as either a teacher, or helper. Of course we need parents to staff these rooms as well and opportunities to sign up to work in this important area are given each semester. Moms in Touch We will be meeting this session again for anyone who wants to join us. Moms In Touch International is two or more moms who meet for one hour each week to pray for their children, their schools, their teachers, and administrators. Moms who believe that prayer makes a difference. For more information, please visit Moms In Touch International or contact Theresa Hyde at Friday School. | TeachingIf you are currently homeschooling, then you have discovered something wonderful about your calling: You are a teacher! Friday School is a great opportunity for you to bless your children and other children by doing just that. Twice each year you will have the chance to sign up under a category that interests you. A Friday School helper will will call you to follow up and answer any questions you may have. While parents who enroll their children are not required to teach, we are dependent on their willingness to do so in order to offer a variety of classes for students. We ask all teachers or prospective teachers to sign an Christian, non-denominational Statement of Faith when they submit their class idea for review. CostThe cost of classes at Friday School are kept to a minimum in order to make it feasible for anyone who is interested to attend. Fees are based on a $4.00 administrative fee which is used to run Friday School, plus a supply fee to cover the expenses of the class. Therefore, some classes are $4.00, but the average is $12.00.
For example, if Jane Brown wanted to attend three classes, the cost for her for the session would be $12.00 plus the supply fees (if any). At times, outside instructors may come in. These classes tend to run a little bit higher because of the teacher's own fee. Tuition stays the same. Scholarships are available upon request. Please see our Friday School Coordinator, or our Members Benefits Coordinator if you are interested in applying for a scholarship.
